Community College Facility Coalition
Legislative Update October 23, 1998
CCFC Phone (916) 441-3300
COMMUNITY COLLEGE PROPOSITION 1A CAMPAIGN FUNDRAISING EFFORT DESULTORY While
there are selected spots of bright sunlight in the Proposition 1A fundraising efforts,
there are also widespread gaps. As of today, there are more districts which have not
submitted funds than there are districts that have. We recognize a late start caused by
the late enactment of the bond has delayed some activity. However, several districts have
put forth heroic efforts to meet and exceed their goals.
Some of the standouts are Kern, which has submitted more funding to the effort than
some CSU campuses, and exceeded their goal more than fourfold. Lake Tahoe CCD, Sierra CCD
and Yosemite CCD undertook grassroots campaigns with many contributors and exceeded their
goals by sizeable margins.
The accompanying chart shows the status of contributions through Friday, October 23,
1998. Only 11 out of 71 districts have met or exceeded their goal; however, 51 districts
have 1998-99 or 1999-2000 projects dependent upon the passage of Proposition 1A. What's
wrong with this picture?
http://www.caccfc.org This is the
address of the now active CCFC website. For a limited period of time it will be open to
all visitors without regard to CCFC membership. On the CCFC Members entry point a
temporary and very public name and password are shown. Membership, Conference Information
and Registration, CCFC Fast Faxes are all available on the site. The Proposition 1A
funding status should be available soon, and updated daily.
