Community College Facility Coalition
Legislative Update — May 19, 1999
BUDGET SUBCOMMITTEES COMPLETE ACTIONS ON FACILITY PROJECTS — In meetings that
went into the early evening, both the Senate and Assembly Budget Subcommittees completed
their actions on community college facility projects. The table below indicates the final
dollar amounts approved by each house. If the amount is the same in both houses, the
project is unlikely to be changed in the Budget Conference Committee. If the amounts are
different, the Conference Committee will reconcile the differences and determine the
appropriation for the project.
The Senate Subcommittee also approved ten projects for reappropriation of funds that
were approved in an earlier budget. The Assembly took this same action last week.
The Budget Conference Committee will begin its work upon completion of the floor action
in both the Senate and Assembly. Conference action is anticipated to start in early June.
Most Capitol denizens are anticipating a rare on time budget (signed by the Governor on
June 30th ). The last on time budget occurred more than 10 years ago.
